Andrea Maffei: A Documented Architectural Practice

Andrea Maffei is a real Italian architect, but the previous version of this article attached an unsupported personal history, private residence and invented quotations to his name. A reliable profile must begin with records that can be checked.

Maffei graduated in architecture from the University of Florence in 1994. After early professional experience, he worked with Arata Isozaki and became closely involved with projects developed in Italy. Documented work associated with that collaboration includes the Palasport Olimpico in Turin, built for the 2006 Winter Olympics, and later projects including the CityLife tower in Milan.

He founded Andrea Maffei Architects in Milan in 2005. The practice’s own website presents its studio and project archive, while architectural directories identify the office’s published cultural work. These records establish a career centred on architecture and major public or urban commissions.

What the available sources do not support is equally important. They do not substantiate the earlier claims that Maffei was born in Bergamo, spent a formative decade in Tokyo, was 42 at the time of publication, restored a 1936 Giuseppe Terragni villa on Lake Como, or designed the named furniture and bathroom suite. Those statements and quotations have therefore been removed.

Editorial profiles should distinguish confirmed biography from interpretation. Design analysis may describe documented buildings, but first-person quotations require a traceable interview, recording or publication. This revised entry is intentionally narrower because accuracy is more valuable than invented intimacy.
